The Friday Fact

James Madison was both the shortest and lightest President in US history. Most Presidents have had above-average height; however, Madison was 5’4’’ and weighed only about 100 pounds.

That is very interesting. Wouldn't he be considered underweight by today's standards?

While people were generally much shorter and lighter he was still well-below average in height and weight (average height for a 19th century American was about 5'8'').

By today's standards he would be considered underweight.
